Kiermaier set to start rehab on Thursday

Rays center fielder has been out since June 9 with a hip fracture

ST. PETERSBURG -- Kevin Kiermaier is scheduled to begin his rehab assignment for Class A Advanced Charlotte of the Florida State League on Thursday.

The Rays announced after Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Orioles that the Gold Glove Award-winning center fielder would be playing the field for the Stone Crabs, as would rehabbing infielder Daniel Robertson.

Kiermaier, who went on the disabled list on June 9 with a right hip fracture, is eligible to come off the disabled list on Aug. 8. Robertson went on the DL with neck spasms on June 27.

Moreno activated

The Rays activated right-hander Diego Moreno from the 60-day DL (right-shoulder bursitis) and optioned him to Triple-A Durham.
