Maddon likes accountability of his catchers

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- Joe Maddon met with the Rays' catchers on Saturday, so they were more in focus to the manager during Sunday's workout.

Of the group, Maddon noted that Curt Casali was an "interesting fellow," and the manager was impressed by Luke Maile's size -- 6-foot-3, 220 pounds, and his offense.

"When I was watching what I was watching today, the message was validated regarding the accountability and professionalism of our group," Maddon said. "They don't need me lording over them, they don't need all kinds of stuff to be thinking about other than their jobs and how they go about their jobs.

"They're great, they're really accountable, professional people. They work well, they take care of themselves, they're interested and engaged. What else can I possibly ask for?"
