Rays fans can send Longoria back to ASG

All-Star balloting underway, exclusively online and mobile

April 24th, 2016

ST. PETERSBURG -- The 2016 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot launched on Sunday and the Rays have several players who are worthy of consideration.
At the top of the list are Evan Longoria and Logan Forsythe, both playing well this season. If Rays fans get behind the pair, one or both of them could get voted onto the American League roster.

Longoria is a three-time All-Star, but he hasn't been to the Midsummer Classic since 2010. Writers covering the Rays voted Forsythe the team MVP in 2015 and he hasn't let up in '16. While he's not flashy, Forsythe always seems to get the job done.
Other Rays on the ballot are: catcher Hank Conger, first baseman Logan Morrison, shortstop Brad Miller, outfielders Desmond Jennings, Kevin Kiermaier and Steven Souza Jr. and designated hitter Corey Dickerson.

The other side: Over in the National League, it's hard not to be impressed with the Rockies' Trevor Story. The shortstop has been solid all season and he's demonstrated an ability to hit the long ball.
Tip of the cap: One guy in the AL worth considering is Manny Machado, who seems to get better every season. He's off to a fast start this year after hitting 35 home runs with 86 RBIs in 2015.
A rising star: One exciting youngster worth considering is the Indians' Francisco Lindor. He's exciting to watch in the field and brings some offense to the equation as well after hitting .313 with 12 home runs and 51 RBIs in his rookie campaign in 2015.
Fans can cast their votes for starters at MLB.com and all 30 club sites -- on their computers, tablets and smartphones -- exclusively online using the 2016 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot until Thursday, June 30, at 11:59 p.m. ET.
