Rays rained out in KC, will play doubleheader

KANSAS CITY -- Monday night's Rays-Royals game has been rained out. Fans and personnel were evacuated due to threat of tornadoes. The teams will meet in a split doubleheader on Tuesday, beginning at 2:10 p.m. ET.

The Rays have reconfigured their rotation for Tuesday, recalling Matt Andriese to start the second game. Matt Moore will start the first game, which is scheduled to start at 8:10 p.m.

Alex Colome, who was supposed to start Monday night, will be available in the bullpen.

The Rays were able to recall Andriese without making a corresponding move by virtue of the 26-man rule for doubleheaders.

Andriese will start the second game due to considerations of his travel plans.

Rays manager Kevin Cash explained that the urgency to play a doubleheader on Tuesday was primarily due to the fact that bad weather is expected on Wednesday and Thursday as well.
