Yunel works out, may return to lineup Saturday

CHICAGO -- The Rays received a bit of good news before Friday night's game against the White Sox when shortstop Yunel Escobar worked out in the afternoon and reported no issues with his right hamstring.

"He said he felt pretty good," Rays manager Joe Maddon said before batting practice. "He wanted to do a normal pregame today, which we're gonna allow him and then we'll make an evaluation. Beyond that, I'm not sure whether he'll be available [Saturday] or not."

For his part, Escobar said he believed he'd be ready to play on Saturday, but no determination will be made until it's known how the hamstring reacts to Friday's activity.

"I respectfully listen and we'll see how he is in the morning," Maddon said.
