Red Sox, Miller avoid arbitration with one-year deal

The Red Sox and left-hander Andrew Miller avoided arbitration on Saturday, agreeing to a one-year contract. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Miller, 28, went 1-2 with a career-best 2.64 ERA for Boston last season. However, he pitched in only 37 games after sustaining a left foot injury that required surgery.

Prior to the injury, he struck out 48 batters in 30 2/3 innings for a career-high 14.1 strikeouts per nine innings.

A first-round Draft pick of the Tigers in 2006, Miller has been with Boston since 2011, and is 25-33 with a 5.33 ERA in 186 career games split between the Tigers, Marlins and Red Sox.

With the agreement, the Red Sox have no remaining unsigned players eligible for salary arbitration
