PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- Red Sox catcher Blake Swihart left in the fourth inning of Sunday's 13-5 loss to the Rays with a bruised jaw after taking a foul ball off the center of his mask.
Red Sox manager John Farrell and the team trainer ran out to the field after the foul tip, which occurred on the first pitch to Patrick Leonard. Ali Solis replaced Swihart behind the plate.
After the game, Farrell said Swihart had no symptoms of a concussion.
"He got his bell rung. We'll check him tomorrow and monitor him day to day," Farrell said. "No further tests will be done unless it doesn't clear up."
Worth Noting
• Eduardo Rodriguez threw from 120 feet on Sunday. He continues to progress, but Farrell said it's uncertain when he'll pitch again this spring and if he'll be ready for the regular season.
• The Red Sox reassigned right-hander William Cuevas to Minor League camp on Sunday. With the move, the Red Sox now have 55 players in Major League camp, including 15 non-roster invitees.
