The Red Sox Foundation today announced that CarGurus (cargurus.com), a leading car shopping website, has signed on as sponsor of the foundation's vehicle donation program. The foundation launched the vehicle donation program in June of 2015 to help fund the 32 RBI teams (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) and Rookie Leagues it operates. CarGurus' sponsorship will help the foundation build and promote the program and reach its fundraising goals.
"We thank Car Gurus for supporting this important program that helps introduce at-risk youth in urban neighborhoods to baseball and softball," said Red Sox Foundation Honorary Chairman Tim Wakefield. "For many of the 1,600 kids who are part of the program, it is often their first introduction to baseball or softball, and an opportunity to learn valuable tools that provide non-violent ways to deal with conflict resolution, techniques to resist drugs and alcohol, and mentorship from coaches that stress the importance of education."
"CarGurus is proud to support the Red Sox Foundation as sponsor of this important fundraising program," said Langley Steinert, founder and CEO of CarGurus. "As a life-long Red Sox fan, I am very familiar with the great work of the foundation and its impact on youth in our local communities. It means a lot to CarGurus' employees to be engaged in this effort, and I hope with our contribution we will help to make the vehicle donation program more successful than ever."
