BOSTON -- The Red Sox were well-represented when Rawlings announced American League Gold Glove Award finalists on Thursday, as Dustin Pedroia (second base), Jackie Bradley Jr. (center field) and Mookie Betts (right field) were all selected as one of three candidates at their position.
Pedroia is aiming to win his fifth Gold Glove Award. Bradley and Betts, Boston's exciting and athletic outfield duo, are each hoping to win the award for the first time.
Major League managers and coaches, voting only within their league and unable to vote for players on their own teams, account for 75 percent of the selection process. The other 25 percent goes to the sabermetrics community.
The winners will be revealed Nov. 8 at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.
After a rare disappointing season defensively in 2015 mainly due to a right hamstring injury, Pedroia spent last offseason working extensively on his agility and quickness, and it paid off.

Pedroia's 12.5 UZR was easily the best in the AL. He was also credited with 12 defensive runs saved, tied with Ian Kinsler for first in the AL. Kinsler (Tigers) and Robinson Canó (Mariners) are the other two finalists at second base.
Helping to fuel the Red Sox to their first AL East title since 2013, Pedroia made just six errors and had a .990 fielding percentage.
Bradley has been playing brilliant defense for the Red Sox the last three seasons. But this is the first full season he avoided the Minor Leagues, which was all he needed to take his rightful place among the elite defenders in the game.
The Red Sox rotated Bradley between center and right in 2015, but he played the entire season in his natural position of center this season.
The three finalists in center are all AL East players, as Bradley is joined by Kevin Pillar (Blue Jays) and last year's winner, Kevin Kiermaier (Rays).
Bradley's 13 assists led all Major League center fielders.

The rise of Betts as a top outfielder is impressive, considering he came up through the Minor Leagues as a second baseman before converting to the outfield in 2014.
Betts led all Major League right fielders with 32 runs saved. Adam Eaton (White Sox), another finalist, finished second at 22. Betts had a UZR of 17.8, topped only by Eaton. George Springer (Astros) is the third finalist in right field.
Much like Bradley in center, Betts put on what seemed like a daily show with his glove and arm. Betts had 14 assists, edged out only by Eaton, who had 15.
