Betts notches four hits, four RBIs in twin bill sweep

Mookie Betts, the Red Sox's No. 5 prospect, helped lead Triple-A Pawtucket to a doubleheader sweep at Rochester on Wednesday. Betts pounded out four hits and drove in four runs in the two games.

The first game, which Pawtucket won 9-4, was the completion of Tuesday's game, which was suspended after three innings due to rain. In the nightcap, Betts helped the Red Sox rally in the seventh (and final) inning for a 4-1 victory. He tied the game with an RBI single and then came around to score an insurance run.

Betts, ranked No. 52 on MLBPipeline.com's Top 100 Prospects list, combined to go 4-fo-10 with a double, one run, four RBIs and two stolen bases in the two games.

Betts has reached base in his first 15 games at Pawtucket since being promoted from Portland at the start of the month. He is hitting .310 with two home runs and four stolen bases in that stretch. Overall between Portland and Pawtucket, he is hitting .346 with eight home runs and 26 stolen bases in 69 games this season.

Betts played center field in both games Wednesday. He began the season as Portland's regular second baseman, but the Red Sox began to introduce him to the outfield last month in an effort to increase his versatility. He has primarily played center field since being promoted, with a few games at second base mixed in.
