BOSTON, MA - The Boston Red Sox today recalled outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. and left-handed pitcher Drake Britton from Triple-A Pawtucket. Both will be active for tonight's series opener against the Blue Jays at Fenway Park beginning at 7:10 p.m.

Executive Vice President/General Manager Ben Cherington made the announcements.

The 24-year-old Bradley Jr. returns for his second major league stint of the season. Before being optioned to Pawtucket on August 18, he batted .216 (75-for-348) for the Red Sox with 19 doubles, two triples, one home run, 30 RBI, 45 runs scored, 31 walks, and eight stolen bases in 112 games to begin the season. In 16 games for the PawSox from August 18-September 4, including two postseason contests, Bradley Jr. went 16-for-76 (.211) with one double, one home run, five RBI, three walks, and seven runs scored. He has appeared primarily in center field for Boston (105 games, 98 starts), leading all major league outfielders with eight double plays and ranking second with 13 assists this season. The left-handed hitter has appeared in 149 career major league games for the Red Sox over the last two seasons, batting .210 (93-for-443) with 24 doubles, two triples, four home runs, and 40 RBI. He was previously recalled from Pawtucket as the 26th man for the second game of a doubleheader against the Rays on May 1, but did not appear in that night's game. The left-handed reliever led all PawSox pitchers in appearances this year with 45, going 2-3 with five saves and a 5.86 ERA (38 ER/58.1 IP). He made his major league debut with the Red Sox on July 20, 2013 against the Yankees at Fenway Park and spent the rest of the season with Boston, posting a 3.86 ERA (9 ER/21.0 IP) in 18 games, all in relief. The native of Magnolia, TX was signed by the Red Sox as a 23rd round selection in the 2007 June Draft.

With today's moves, Boston's active major league roster is now at 31.
