Red Sox recall right-handed pitcher Steven Wright from Triple-A Pawtucket
BOSTON, MA - The Boston Red Sox today recalled right-handed pitcher Steven Wright from Triple-A Pawtucket and added him as the 26th man on the club's active roster for the second game of today's day-night doubleheader against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He is expected to start tonight's game at Angel Stadium beginning at 10:05 p.m. ET. Under Major League Baseball Rules, both teams are permitted to add an extra player for the second game of today's doubleheader.

Wright, 30, returns for his fifth stint of the season with Boston. In 11 appearances with the Red Sox in 2015, he is 3-2 with a 4.15 ERA (20 ER/43.1 IP), 24 strikeouts, and a .246 opponent average, including a 3.91 ERA (10 ER/23.0 IP) in four starts. The right-handed knuckleballer has worked exclusively as a starter with the PawSox this season, posting a 2-5 record, 3.81 ERA (22 ER/52.0 IP), and 42 strikeouts in eight outings. The native of Torrance, CA last pitched on Sunday, July 12, allowing four runs over 7.0 innings in a loss against Philadelphia's Lehigh Valley affiliate. Over his major league career, all with the Red Sox from 2013-15, Wright has gone 5-3 with a 3.94 ERA (34 ER/77.2 IP) in 21 games (six starts).
