Red Sox first baseman hits five homers in seven-day stretch

's three-homer game has earned the Red Sox first baseman American League Player of the Week honors.
Ramirez hit .333 (7-for-21) last week, with five of his seven hits leaving the yard. He also drove in 12 runs and drew four walks (one intentional) to lead the Red Sox to a 4-2 record in series against the Giants and Twins.
Ramirez's big day came Wednesday against the Giants. He homered in his first two at-bats before getting hit in his third. Ramirez finished off by homering in his final at-bat, and he drove in a career-high six runs.
"I was trying to hit a homer," Ramirez said of his final at-bat. "I was trying to go to the moon."
Ramirez also homered and drove in three runs in each of Boston's final two games against Minnesota.
This is Ramirez's third weekly honor of his career, and it is his first since June 28, 2009, when he was a member of the Marlins.
