Red Sox deal Minor Leaguers to Cards
The Cardinals announced Sunday they've traded international cap space to the Red Sox in exchange for Minor League infielders Stanley Espinal and Imeldo Diaz.
Espinal, 20, was signed in February 2015 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. In 132 career games, he's batted .251 with eight homers and 82 RBIs. At 6-foot-2, 190 pounds, the right-handed hitter has played primarily at third base, and led the Dominican Summer League in RBIs in 2015, with 59.
Diaz, 19, has compiled a .222 clip in 123 Minor League games, and was signed by Boston on this day three years ago out of Venezuela.
