BOSTON -- After earning his career-high 16th win of the season, Rick Porcello still has no idea what losing at home feels like this year. Backed by the Red Sox's all-too-familiar powerful offense in a 16-2 win for a series sweep over the D-backs, Porcello improved to 12-0 at Fenway Park.
The right-hander received a lofty 9-0 lead thanks to an explosive homer-filled surge in the second against Arizona ace Zack Greinke. Even with the run advantage, Porcello dazzled by dealing seven innings of one-run ball.
 

Following Sunday's win, Porcello is tied with Toronto's J.A. Happ for the Major League lead (16).
"We had a tough series against New York," Porcello said. "It was nice to come back and win three here. We have a long, important road trip for us, so it's good to leave on a good note."
As Steven Wright departs to the 15-day DL with a bothersome right shoulder, Porcello's consistency is important now more than ever. Red Sox manager John Farrell said he doesn't expect the starter's results to falter any time soon, if at all, due to his impeccable work ethic.
"He's so process-oriented that when we look up toward the end of September, he'll be in the conversation," Farrell said. "We've got that much confidence in him. He takes care of himself in such a great fashion. And he's ultra-prepared, so to think that these results are all of a sudden going to shift the other direction, I'd be surprised in that."
Porcello is the first Red Sox pitcher to begin a season 12-0 at home since Dave Ferriss in 1946.
As Porcello has bounced back tremendously from his 2015 season, in which he went 9-15, Farrell said he spoke to him about how comfortable he's been in his second year with the team, explaining the starter needed a season to adjust to Boston.
"The environment, the expectation is more of a known commodity to him more than it was a year ago," Farrell said. "It's allowed that relaxation to let his natural abilities to come out. That filters into his execution, which has been probably as consistent as any point in his career."
Porcello credited his team's offense -- one that leads the Majors in runs -- for his exceptional performances at home. The Red Sox have scored at least four runs in each of Porcello's 12 home wins.
"Guys swung the bats tremendous today against one of the best pitchers in the game. Got off to a big lead, and I didn't wanna mess it up," Porcello said. "Can't say enough about the way they swung the bats today. It was a lot of fun to watch."
