Reddick Signs

The Oakland A's agreed to terms with outfielder Josh Reddick on a one-year contract for the 2014 season, avoiding arbitration, the club announced today.  

Reddick, acquired in a trade from Boston prior to the 2012 season, batted. 226 with 12 home runs and 56 RBI in 114 games last year in a season interrupted by two stints on the disabled list due to a sprained right wrist that required surgery during the offseason. In 2012, he led the A's in most offensive categories, including 32 home runs and 85 RBI, and also earned his first Rawlings Gold Glove award.   His highlight last season was a five-homer binge over two games in Toronto Aug. 9-10, which tied the Major League record.

Originally a 17th-round selection by the Red Sox in the 2007 First-Year Draft, Reddick played parts of three seasons 2009-2011) with Boston prior to joining Oakland. The Savannah, Ga. Native turns 27 years old this Wednesday.
