GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- Reds starting pitcher Anthony DeSclafani's spring debut has been pushed back because he's dealing with right elbow tenderness, manager Bryan Price revealed Monday.
"It's something he had with [Miami] before. There's no red alert, we're just being cautious," Price said. "At this point, we don't have any great or grave concerns, or any concerns that he won't be ready for the Opening Day roster. We'll slot Disco back in when he's ready."
In the original schedule, DeSclafani was slated to start Tuesday vs. the White Sox. That start now belongs to Brandon Finnegan. DeSclafani's injury is not viewed as serious.
Although it has not been announced, DeSclafani appeared to be the favorite to be Cincinnati's Opening Day starter on April 3 vs. the Phillies. He would have pitched the opener last year but suffered a strained left oblique in his final spring start. That put him on the disabled list until his June 10 debut.
In 20 starts during 2016, DeSclafani was 9-5 with a 3.28 ERA, 123 1/3 innings pitched and one complete game.
More camp notes from Monday
• Shortstop Zack Cozart could make his spring debut Tuesday for the White Sox. Cozart, who finished the 2016 season with right knee tendinitis, was being brought along slower because of the longer camp this year. He ran the bases Monday.

"He's doing great. I don't really look at him as a rehab guy," Price said. "We're checking boxes on him with the long Spring Training. If it was sloppy, messy tomorrow, I might make a change with that."
• Catcher Devin Mesoraco, trying to come back from hip and shoulder surgeries, has been setback-free this spring. But he's not slated to get into a game in the near future.
"Until we're getting closer with workload, I'd hate to try and target a date because then it's disappointing if we don't reach it by playing by a certain date," Price said. "He's certainly getting closer."
• Second baseman Dilson Herrera, who is dealing with right shoulder inflammation, resumed a throwing program Monday by playing catch.
"I'm going to keep DHing him, and we're going to make sure that when he's throwing, he's throwing at 100 percent before I put him at second base," Price said.
• Pitcher Bronson Arroyo, who has been felled by a stomach virus for a few days and kept away from the club, was at the complex and played catch Monday.
