SAN FRANCISCO -- Billy Hamilton's calf injury from Friday's 17-inning, 3-2 loss to the Giants is considered minor, Reds manager Bryan Price said Saturday.
"He's got just a little bit of a calf tightness. I don't think it's a huge issue," said Price. "I had him penciled in for a day off [Saturday] anyway so we could get [Patrick] Kivlehan in the ballgame. It coincides with a day where he could probably use a little bit of a blow."
Hamilton had his season-high eight-game hitting streak snapped with an 0-for-7 night at the plate. He hit .389 during the streak and scored runs in 11 straight appearances before Friday.
"He came in here today saying he was ready to play, which I appreciate. But today was a scheduled day off for him anyway. So I'm going to give him some rest," said Price.
Saturday was Kivlehan's fifth start of the season, with his most recent one coming against the Giants on May 6, when he logged a career-best four hits, including his only home run of 2017.

Shortstop Zack Cozart was also out of the starting lineup on Saturday after his eight-game hitting streak was snapped the night before. He was replaced by Arismendy Alcantara, who had hits in seven straight plate appearances before striking out as a pinch-hitter in the eighth inning of Friday's loss.

Reds hurler Homer Bailey took another step in his rehab from surgery on Friday with a 48-pitch bullpen session.
"It sounded like everything went well. Certainly, if he threw 48 pitches, it went pretty well," Price said.
It was Bailey's longest session on a mound since he began his throwing program in March after the operation to remove bone spurs from his pitching elbow in February.
The veteran is tentatively expected to return to the rotation at some point in June, and he will continue throwing in side sessions before a rehab assignment is determined later this month.
