Reds Mourn Death of Former Owner George Strike

CINCINNATI - The Cincinnati Reds offer condolences to the family and friends of former Reds minority owner George Strike, who died Saturday at age 82.

Reds President and Chief Executive Officer Bob Castellini said, "George Strike was a long-time, dedicated owner of the Cincinnati Reds and brought a very positive influence to the franchise. He was first and foremost a true Reds fan. George loved the Reds and his frequent presence in the stands at Great American Ball Park will be a terrible loss, but it gives us great solace in knowing that George will be there in spirit. Our franchise deeply valued his friendship and support."

Mr. Strike joined the Reds ownership group in the 1980s and sold his interest in the team in October 2008.
