CINCINNATI -- The Reds made five housekeeping moves on Monday that cleared space from their 40-man roster.
Outfielder Tyler Holt, right-handed starting pitcher Jon Moscot, reliever Matt Magill, catcher Raffy Lopez and utility player Patrick Kivlehan all cleared waivers and were sent outright to Triple-A Louisville.
Holt, Magill and Lopez will become Minor League free agents after the World Series. The club noted that Moscot and Kivlehan will remain in the organization and be assigned to Louisville's roster.
Of the five, Holt was the one player who spent the entire season in the big leagues with the Reds. A reserve outfielder, he batted .235/.327/.296 with no homers and 13 RBIs in 106 games. He also had the notoriety of pitching one scoreless inning of relief.
Once a promising prospect, Moscot was optioned to Louisville on June 7 after he posted a 0-3 record and 8.02 ERA in five starts. The right-hander began the year on the disabled list with a strained intercostal muscle and three starts after being activated, went back on the DL with inflammation in his surgically-repaired non-throwing shoulder. In July while with Louisville, he needed Tommy John surgery on his right elbow.
Kivlehan was claimed off waivers from the Padres on Sept. 28 and made his Reds debut on Sept. 30. He went 0-for-5 in three games, including one start in right field.
