Reds nearing deal with Draft pick Greene

July 5th, 2017

DENVER -- The Reds could have a deal with the No. 2 overall selection from the 2017 MLB Draft, right-hander Hunter Greene, completed by Wednesday, a source told MLB.com on Tuesday.
Greene would have to pass a physical with Cincinnati's medical staff before any signing becomes official. The slot value of the No. 2 pick is $7,193,200.
Greene, 17, is the only player picked in the top 10 to remain unsigned. Selected out of Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, Calif., he was ranked as the No. 1 prospect in the Draft by MLBPipeline.com.

Cincinnati has signed 22 of its 41 picks this year, with Greene the only one unsigned among the organization's first 11 selections. On Tuesday the Reds signed their seventh-round pick, catcher Mark Kolozsvary from the University of Florida.
The deadline to sign 2017 Draft picks is Friday.
