Moscot adds seven scoreless to impressive year

Reds No. 15 prospect Jon Moscot threw seven scoreless innings Friday and Double-A Pensacola defeated Jackson, 5-1.

Moscot struck out four batters, walked none and held the Generals to three hits -- all singles. The right-hander threw 85 pitches and didn't allow a runner to advance past first base.

With the victory, Moscot improved to 7-10 with a 3.14 ERA this season. He has struck out 105 batters and walked 42 in 143 1/3 innings. He ranks second in the Southern League in innings pitched and third in ERA and strikeouts.

Friday was the second straight night a Pensacola starting pitcher authored a scoreless outing against Jackson. On Thursday, right-hander Daniel Corcino, the Reds' No. 11 prospect, shut out the Generals for eight innings in a 3-2 win. Combined, Corcino and Moscot struck out 10 batters and held Jackson to seven hits and one walk in 15 innings.
