Frazier, Hanigan rest for series opener vs. Pirates

PITTSBURGH -- Third baseman Todd Frazier and catcher Ryan Hanigan were given the night off as the Reds opened a three-game series against the Pirates Friday. Jack Hannahan got the start at third base and Devin Mesoraco behind the plate.

"Frazier is OK," Reds manager Dusty Baker said. "I just wanted to give him another night off, because we are going into a stretch of 20 straight games, and we will be facing some lefties, and I want to use him then, so I wanted to give another day.

"Hanigan was going to get another day as well. Mesoraco gets another game. Plus, Mesoraco's family is here, Chris Heisey's family is here, and they get to play in front of their families."
