Receive Three Top Lefthanded Pitching Prospects

Cincinnati Reds President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Walt Jocketty today announced the acquisitions of LHP Brandon Finnegan, LHP John Lamb and LHP Cody Reed from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for RHP Johnny Cueto.

Finnegan, 22, as Kansas City's top draft pick last season was selected with the 17th pick overall. When he was promoted in September, he became just the third Royals draft pick to debut in the same season he was selected, joining Bo Jackson (4th round, 1986) and Jeff Granger (1st round, 1993). The Fort Worth native made 7 Postseason relief apps during KC's 2014 American League championship run to the World Series.

This season, Finnegan went 3-0 with a 2.96 ERA in 14 relief appearances for the Royals. He also made 7 starts and 4 relief appearances at Class AAA Omaha and Class AA Northwest Arkansas.

Reed, 22, was the Royals' second-round pick in the June 2013 first-year player draft. In 15 starts and 3 relief appearances this season for Class AA Northwest Arkansas and Class A Wilmington he combined to go 7-7 with 1 save and a 2.53 ERA. He was a Carolina League All-Star for Wilmington.

Lamb, 25, was selected by the Royals in the fifth round of the June 2008 draft. This season he was a Pacific Coast League All-Star for Omaha, where he went 9-1 with a 2.67 ERA in 17 starts.

Cueto, 29, this season for the Reds posted a 7-6 record and 2.62 ERA in 19 starts.
