DENVER -- The first National League All-Star balloting results were revealed on Wednesday, and it appears that voters have taken notice of the nice bounceback season from Reds shortstop Zack Cozart.
Cozart was ranked fifth among NL shortstops with 231,502 votes. The leader, Addison Russell of the Cubs, had 544,240 votes and was followed by Trevor Story of the Rockies (534,290), Asdrubal Cabrera from the Mets (247,954) and the Giants' Brandon Crawford (246,390).
No other Reds were among the leaders at their positions.
Batting .298/.324/.497 with six home runs and 18 RBIs through Tuesday, Cozart leads Cincinnati in hits and batting average this season. Among qualified NL shortstops, he is ranked third in hitting.
In 2015, Cozart was lost for the season when he slipped and fell running over first base on June 10. He needed reconstructive right knee surgery.
