Replay aids Rockies, Hernandez vs. Cubs

CHICAGO -- Rockies left-hander Pedro Hernandez's solid work in his first Major League start in 11 months was aided by an instant-replay call reversal in the bottom of the fifth inning against the Cubs on Thursday afternoon.

In a scoreless game, Welington Castillo singled to start the inning, then Junior Lake grounded to Rockies shortstop Charlie Culberson, who tossed to DJ LeMahieu for the force at second. First-base umpire Greg Gibson ruled that Lake beat LeMahieu's throw to first baseman Justin Morneau, but replay showed that Lake was out, and the call was overturned.

Rockies manager Walt Weiss is 13-for-29 on replay challenges this season.
