Report: D-backs may look to extend Pollock this winter
All-Star outfielder making $519,500 this season
ATLANTA -- D-backs outfielder A.J. Pollock will be eligible for salary arbitration for the first time this winter and according to report by Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com the team might look to sign Pollock to a long-term deal.
If that's the case, Pollock, 27, would be interested in hearing what they have to say. As of now, though, he has not heard anything and would prefer to keep his focus on the field.
"I probably won't ever comment unless they start talking to me," Pollock said. "I'd obviously be open. But that's kind of not my position to start talking. I love being a part of this team and love the people in the organization."
Pollock is a bargain this year at $519,500, but that figure will begin to rise dramatically next year and throughout the arbitration process.
The D-backs would still control Pollock through the 2018 season, regardless of whether they decide to offer him a long-term deal.
Pollock, who made the All-Star team for the first time this year, entered Friday night's game with an on-base plus slugging of .842.
