Alex Reyes was expected to be a dominant force on the mound in 2016 and every time he's taken the ball, he's lived up to the hype.
The No. 11 overall prospect (Cardinals' No. 1) got a late start to the year because of a suspension that was handed down in the Arizona Fall League, but Reyes has been making up for lost time by carving his way through opposing lineups.
Reyes put his talents on display Wednesday night as he led Memphis to a 3-2 win with six innings of two-run ball. The 21-year-old right-hander gave up just two hits and struck out 11.
In three starts this season, Reyes has struck out 26 hitters and allowed just seven hits in 15 innings.

The rest of the best performances from top prospects Wednesday:
• Rain was the only thing able to disrupt Tyler Glasnow's rhythm Wednesday. The Pirates' top prospectfired five no-hit innings, but left the game after a rain delay. The No. 8 overall prospect picked up his fifth win as Indianapolis beat Rochester 2-0 and improved to 5-2 with a 2.07 ERA this season. However, Glasnow did issue four free passes and threw just 38 of his 74 pitches for strikes.
"I feel a lot better in the stretch than I do the windup. I have the past couple years," Glasnow said. "It was hard for me to figure out the rhythm of the windup, and I was trying not to think about it, but once I went to the stretch, everything felt good. All my walks came in the windup. I've definitely got to refine that."

• Brewers' No. 1 Orlando Arcia had quite the day at the plate as Colorado Springs swept a doubleheader against Omaha. Arcia, the No. 4 overall prospect, went 5-for-7 and has a hit in each of his past six games.

• Bobby Bradley (Indians' No. 3, No. 87 overall) went 2-for-3 with a homer and a pair of RBIs in Lynchburg's loss to Wilmington.
• For the second time in as many days Roman Quinn (Phillies' No. 7) led off the game with a home run. The No. 93 overall prospect later doubled and finished Reading's win 3-for-4 with four RBIs.
"A lot of guys don't know that I have that side of my game, because I'm more of a guy that tries to put a ball in play," Quinn told MiLB.com. "And I'm a smaller guy, so I love it. It definitely feels good to get things going early. I was just happy I put a good swing on it and got the barrel on the ball."

• Angels' No. 19 prospect Jared Foster doubled his home run total for Burlington with his first career multi-homer game. Foster, who began play with two homers on the season, went 2-for-4 with two homers and five RBIs.

• Renato Nunez, Oakland's No. 6 prospect, went 2-for-5 with a homer and four RBIs for Nashville on Wednesday. The third baseman has homered in each of the past two games and has 10 total this season.
• Athletics' No. 21 prospect Jaycob Brugman is collecting hits in bunches lately. The 24-year-old left fielder went 4-for-6 with a double and a triple in Nashville's loss. The game was Brugman's second four-hit game of the season and his first came just a couple days ago as he went 4-for-4 on May 30.
• Mike Soroka (Braves' No. 12) pitched well again for Rome, but was stuck with a no-decision as his club fell late to Columbia. Soroka gave up two earned runs and struck out five in six innings. The 18-year-old has a 2.66 ERA through 11 games (10 starts, 61 innings), but has been the victim of some tough luck as he's just 1-5.
• Every time Oscar Mercado came to bat Wednesday, he came away with a hit. The Cardinals' No. 29 prospect had a perfect day at the plate for Peoria, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs. He also scored two runs.
• However, Mercado wasn't the only Cardinals' prospect with a perfect day at the plate for Peoria. Edmundo Sosa (Cardinals' No. 5) was 4-for-4 on Wednesday and drove in a season-high four runs.
• Cubs' No. 18 prospect Mark Zagunis did everything he could offensively, but it was not enough to help Tennessee, who fell, 4-3, to Jackson. Zagunis set a season-high with three RBIs and was a perfect 3-for-3 with a homer.

• Patrick Kivlehan certainly made a strong first impression as he went 3-for-4 with a double in his first game with Tacoma. Kivlehan, the Mariners' No. 18 prospect, was traded from the Rangers to the Mariners on May 29.
• Padres' No. 13 prospect Jabari Blash went 4-for-4 with two doubles and a pair of RBIs for El Paso.

• Jaime Schultz (Rays' No. 19) led Durham to a win with another solid outing. Schultz struck out six and gave up one earned run over six innings. The right-hander has given up just one earned runs over his last two starts, 12 innings, and has surrendered one run or fewer in eight of his 11 starts this season.
• Omaha was swept in a Wednesday doubleheader, but a pair of Royals' top prospects still put up good offensive numbers. Hunter Dozier (Royals' No. 15) went 3-for-7 with a double and a homer in the two games and Jorge Bonifacio (Royals' No. 16) was 5-for-7 with two doubles and a triple.

• Tigers' No. 10 prospect Steven Moya is just in one of those grooves. After a stint with the Tigers, Moya was optioned back to Toledo on May 28. In the four games he's been back, he's hit three homers and driven in five runs, including a 2-for-4, two-RBI performance Wednesday night.

• Twins' No. 28 prospect Daniel Palka trotted his way around the bases a couple times in Chattanooga's win over Birmingham as he went 2-for-3 with two homers and three RBIs. The game was Palka' first multi-homer game this season and the seventh of his career.
"I was just looking for a pitch in the zone and I was being aggressive there in that first at-bat," Palka told MiLB.com. "Got a fastball inside and got it pretty good."
