CHICAGO -- Reynaldo Lopez's promotion from Triple-A Charlotte to the White Sox figures to come sooner rather than later, as the No. 59 overall prospect according to MLBPipeline.com has allowed eight earned runs over his last 36 2/3 innings with 49 strikeouts and eight walks.
As of Monday night, the right-hander was listed as Charlotte's starter for Tuesday with the Knights having Monday off, and Mike Pelfrey in line for the White Sox in Chicago against the Blue Jays.
"I think we're still talking about, in terms of time, when that might occur," said White Sox manager Rick Renteria of potential callups as a whole, not just Lopez. "The discussions are continuing to be had and our evaluations are continuing to move forward. I'm sure at some point here in the near future you'll get an update about any of the transactions that might transpire.
"I'm saying that, as we continue to move forward, anything is possible. We still need to allow those guys to have at least a few more starts down there before we decide what's going to happen and who's coming and who's going to be moving."
White Sox executive vice president Ken Williams reinforced the organization view of not rushing any prospects. But good prospects will dictate their arrival, much as Lopez appears to have done.
"We won't bring someone here that we don't think can compete or grow from the experience," Williams said. "Sometimes you get to a point in the Minor Leagues where you are so good and so above your competition that you need the challenge of the big leagues to then kind of understand 'Oh this is what I now need to work on and spend my offseason working on to take that next step.'"

• Ian Clarkin, a left-handed hurler acquired from the Yankees in the Todd Frazier deal, was placed on the disabled list with Class A Winston-Salem with a strained right oblique. He will be reevaluated in 10 days.
• Right-handed pitcher Dylan Covey, on the White Sox disabled list with a strained left oblique, began an injury rehab assignment with the franchise's Arizona Rookie League team Monday.
• Ozzie Guillen was at Guaranteed Rate Field Monday to provide analysis on a CSN Spanish-language broadcast of the game against the Blue Jays. Guillen led the 2005 White Sox to a World Series title.
