The Texas Rangers today announced that right-handed pitcher A.J. Griffin has been activated from the 10-day disabled list and will start this afternoon's game versus the Astros in Houston.

To make room for Griffin on the active roster, right-handed pitcher Anthony Bass has been optioned to Triple-A Round Rock.

Griffin was placed on the disabled list on April 21 retroactive to April 18 with gout in his left ankle. He made a rehab start for Round Rock on April 28 at Memphis (1.1 IP, 5 H, 4 R-ER, 37 pitches) when he was on a limited pitch count. Griffin is 2-0 with a 4.11 ERA in 3 starts for the Rangers this season and will be making his first Texas start since April 17 at Oakland. He owns two of the team's three road victories in 2017.

Bass had been recalled on Wednesday from Round Rock and allowed 4 hits and 3 runs in 2.2 innings in last night's 10-1 loss to Houston.
