Major League Baseball today announced that RHP Bartolo Colon has been added to the 2016 National League All-Star team.
 
Colon, 43, has been named to three previous All-Star teams (1998, 2005 and 2013). Colon becomes the eighth player 43 or older to be named to an All-Star team. This is also the 10th time in All-Star history that a player 43 or older has been named to the team. The last player older than Colon to be named to an All-Star team was Mariano Rivera in 2013.
 
Colon is 7-4 with a 3.28 ERA in 18 games, 17 starts this year. During the first half of the season, Colon moved into second place on the all-time wins list by a Dominican-born pitcher passing Pedro Martinez and became the oldest player to hit his first major league home run on May 7 at San Diego.
 
Colon will join teammates Yoenis Cespedes, Jeurys Familia and Noah Syndergaard on the All-Star team. It will be the ninth time in team history the Mets have had four or more All-Stars and the first time since 2009 when David Wright, Francisco Rodriguez, Johan Santana and Carlos Beltran were named to the squad.
