RHP Chris Bassitt Has Successful UCL Surgery

Oakland A's right-handed pitcher Chris Bassitt had successful surgery on his right elbow today. The surgery was performed by Dr. Timothy Kremchek at Beacon Orthopedics in Cincinnati and involved an ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction with an ipsilateral palmaris longus graft. Dr. Kremchek was pleased with the surgery and the outcome of the procedure. Bassitt will return to Oakland on Sunday and begin his rehab on Monday.
Bassitt was 0-2 with a 6.11 ERA and .294 opponents batting average in five starts with the A's. He allowed a career-high seven runs on a career-high 10 hits in just 3.2 innings April 28 in a start and loss at Detroit and went on the disabled list the next day. Bassitt did not have a decision over his first three starts, logging a 2.79 ERA, but is 0-2 with a 13.50 ERA over his last two starts.
