Right-handed pitcher Carson Smith to undergo Tommy John surgery

The Boston Red Sox announced today that right-handed pitcher Carson Smith will undergo ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction surgery (Tommy John) on his right elbow today. The procedure will be performed this afternoon by Dr. David Altchek at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, NY.
