Kendrick Recovers his 'Precious'

Kyle Kendrick can breathe. During an offseason burglary at his home in Washington state, Kendrick discovered that his most prized possession, his 2008 World Series Championship ring, was among the things that had been taken. Luckily, the ring was recovered in a swamp near Puget Sound yesterday, though several other items are still missing.

I'm happy Mr. Kendrick got his ring back, but maybe now he'll do what he should have done as soon as he got that ring: he'll get a hold of the guy who built the vault in “Ocean's 11” and have him build one of those babies in his garage. It's a World Series Championship ring! You don't just leave it on the nightstand next to your loose change and alarm clock! I mean, sure, you wear it out sometimes, to special events and reunions and such, but when it's not ON YOUR BODY it should be in Zurich at one of those untraceable banks that they're always talking about in movies like “The Bourne Identity.”

We'll give Kyle a pass on this one. Maybe he was washing the dishes and set it on the counter so it didn't go down the drain. Understandable, but now we know better. And look at it this way, Mr. Kendrick: this gives you a reason to install one of those safe-behind-the-painting things in your house, or possibly even have someone build you a secret room behind a bookcase that swings open when you pull on Catcher in the Rye.

I'm an Idea Man. It's what I do.
