Ruiz, Vasquez erupt at plate for Lancaster

Astros' top prospects combined for seven hits, eight RBIs

Third baseman Rio Ruiz, the Astros' No. 10 prospect, drove in six runs and outfielder Danry Vasquez, the club's No. 19 prospect, collected five hits Wednesday, helping Class A Advanced Lancaster defeat Rancho Cucamonga, 16-3. Their big nights helped the JetHawks clinch the first half California League South Division title.

Ruiz went 2-for-5 with a grand slam and one run scored. His six RBIs were a career high and matched Lancaster's season high. Vasquez finished the night 5-for-5 with two doubles, four runs and two RBIs. His five hits and four runs equaled his career high.

Not to be outdone by Ruiz and Vasquez, Astros' No. 1 prospect Carlos Correa went 2-for-4 with a double, two walks, a run and two RBIs. It was his third straight multi-hit game.

In all, the JetHawks totaled 19 hits, including 10 that went for extra bases, and eight walks. All but one starter had at least one hit and scored a run.

Ruiz is hitting .300/.392/.440 with six home runs in 63 games this season. Vasquez, meanwhile, lifted his batting average to .268 on Wednesday.
