River Riders drop series opener, 12-6, against Otterbots

The loss ended eight-game home winning streak

ELIZABETHTON, TN --- The River Riders dropped game one against the Danville Otterbots 12-6 at Northeast Community Credit Union Ballpark in Elizabethton. The loss tonight ended an eight-game win streak at NCCU Ballpark.

E-Town jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when second baseman Jonathan Soto scored on a sacrifice fly by first baseman Augusts Fraley.

In the top of the fifth, Danville scored four runs on a solo home run by third baseman Daniel Hicks and a three-run home run by first baseman C Brown.

In the bottom of the sixth, Elizabethton right fielder Dalton McClain scored on a sacrifice fly by shortstop Michael Robinson.

In the top of the seventh, Talmadge Lecroy hit a two-RBI double, 7-2 Otterbots.

In the top of the eighth Danville hit their third home run of the game, a two-run shot by designated hitter Ryan Carr.

In the bottom of the eighth, Soto doubled and scored designated hitter Chancery Hall and Robinson. Center fielder Logan Sanders scored on a sacrifice fly by catcher Deric Graham.

In the top of the ninth, Danville scored their final three runs, 12-5 Otterbots.

In the bottom of the ninth Robinson hit his second sacrifice fly of the game to score McClain, 12-6 Otterbots.

Elizabethton will play their season finally tomorrow at Northeast Community Credit Union Ballpark against the Otterbots. First pitch is at 7.
