Ventura to miss Rays series for graduation
CHICAGO -- Manager Robin Ventura announced Wednesday that he will miss this weekend's series against Tampa Bay to attend the college graduation of his daughter, Madison, from Cal Poly. Ventura will rejoin the White Sox for their series at Pittsburgh on Monday.
Bench coach Mark Parent will step into Ventura's role while the fourth-year skipper is absent, while Minor League hitting coordinator Vance Law will serve as the bench coach.
Last year, Ventura missed a game to be at his first daughter Rachel's graduation from Oklahoma State. Parent filled in against the D-backs that day, a 4-3 White Sox defeat.
