DETROIT -- Robinson Cano remains the Mariners' best shot at earning a starting spot in the All-Star Game.
With a week and a half of voting left, Cano is in second place among American League second basemen. He is in search of one final voting push as he trails the Astros' Jose Altuve by 602,085 votes.

Nelson Cruz is the only other Mariner in the top-five at his position, as he is fifth among AL designated hitters.

Entering Tuesday's play, Cano sat one behind Baltimore's Mark Trumbo for the most home runs in the AL with a team-best 19. His .555 slugging percentage was seventh-best in the AL, while he sat just inside the top-20 in the AL with a .297 batting average.
Cano is one home run shy of becoming the seventh second baseman in Major League history to have seven or more seasons with 20-plus homers.
