Rockies activate LHP Brett Anderson from the disabled list

The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has activated left-handed pitcher Brett Anderson from the 60-day disabled list. To make room on the active roster for Anderson, the Rockies optioned infielder/outfielder Kyle Parker to Triple-A, a move that occurred following Saturday's game against Minnesota. In addition, the club has transferred right-handed pitcher Jordan Lyles from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list. Anderson (#30) is scheduled to start today's Rockies vs. Twins game at Coors Field (2:10 p.m. MDT).

Anderson, 26, has been on the 60-day disabled list with a broken left index finger since April 14 (retroactive to April 13), an injury he suffered while hitting into a ground out in the top of the third inning during his start on April 12 at San Francisco. During his recovery process, Anderson has made two rehab starts for Triple-A Colorado Springs going 1-0 with a 0.96 ERA (9.1 ip, 1 er), 8 hits, 2 walks and 8 strikeouts. Prior to his injury, he made three starts for Colorado going 0-2 with a 3.60 ERA (15.0 ip, 6 er). The 6-foot-4 left-handed starter was acquired by the Rockies from the Oakland Athletics on December 10, 2013 in exchange for pitchers Drew Pomeranz and Chris Jensen. He was the Opening Day starter for Oakland in 2013 and has made 87 career appearances, 76 starts, going 26-31 with a 3.81 ERA (465.2 ip, 197 er), 474 hits, 125 walks and 362 strikeouts.

Parker, 24, was recalled for the second time on July 8 and started the July 9 game against San Diego, in which he collected his first career Major League hit with a single in the second inning. In two stints with Colorado this year, including his Major League debut on June 16 at Los Angeles-NL, he has gone 1-for-9 in five games (two starts). He has spent the rest of the 2014 season with Colorado Springs accumulating a .292 average (93-for-318) with 22 doubles, 3 triples, 10 home runs, 47 RBI and 50 runs scored. Parker was originally drafted out of Clemson University by the Rockies in the first round, 26th overall, of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft.

Lyles, 23, fractured his third metatarsal in his left hand on June 6 against Arizona while attempting to make a tag at home plate. He has made 12 starts and owns a 5-1 record with a 3.52 ERA (69.0 ip, 27 er) for Colorado in his first season with the club. Lyles was acquired by the Rockies on December 3, 2013 along with Brandon Barnes from Houston in exchange for Dexter Fowler. The Hartsville, SC native has pitched in parts of four Major League seasons with the Astros (2011-13) and Rockies (2014) and owns a career Major League mark of 19-30 with a 5.07 ERA (446.0 ip, 251 er), 143 walks and 308 strikeouts.

The Rockies currently have a full 40-man roster.
