NEW YORK -- According to MLB.com sources, the Rockies have agreed to terms with sixth-round Draft pick Willie Abreu. The club has not confirmed.
Abreu, a corner outfielder from the University of Miami, reportedly agreed to a contract worth $303,700, the slot value connected to the 170th pick where Abreu was drafted.

Scouts project Abreu to be a bit of a project to develop into a big leaguer. He is said to possess raw power and is built like a wide receiver at 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, but he hasn't quite developed the ability to consistently make contact.
Prior to being drafted, Abreu was a third-team All-ACC honoree his junior year at Miami, where he batted .286 and slugged .519 in the regular season. He tallied 56 RBIs behind 12 home runs and 14 doubles, all career highs. Abreu was a three-year starter at Miami and was voted a team co-captain as early as his sophomore year.
