June 29th, 2016

DENVER -- Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado and shortstop Trevor Story are making their final pushes for starting National League positions for the July 12 All-Star Game presented by MasterCard -- with fewer than 30 hours left in the voting.
Voters have been kind to the Rockies' infield pair over the last two days in casting the 2016 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot, which is available exclusively online via MLB.com, team sites such as Rockies.com and mobile devices. It will be accessible until the voting period ends on Thursday at 9:59 p.m. MT. The 2016 All-Star teams will be announced next Tuesday on the Esurance All-Star Selection Show on ESPN at 5 p.m. MT.
You can also text VOTE to 89269 (USA) or 101010 (Canada), or just text VOTA for a ballot in Spanish. Message and data rates may apply, with up to five messages. No purchase is required. Reply STOP to cancel and reply HELP for info.
Cast your Esurance All-Star ballot for Arenado and other #ASGWorthy players
Arenado has outgained NL third-base leader Kris Bryant of the Cubs by 25.1 percent and is trailing by approximately 290,000 votes. Story, a rookie, has outgained NL shortstop leader Addison Russell of the Cubs by 20 percent and trails by approximately 290,000 votes.

Outfielder Carlos Gonzalez currently sits outside of the top three who will be starters, but he has quietly moved up the rankings in the last week.
"CarGo's making a late splash, that's for sure -- he's definitely playing well," Arenado said. "There are four or five guys."

Rockies manager Walt Weiss said all three, plus second baseman DJ LeMahieu and center fielder Charlie Blackmon, should be included on the NL roster, whether through player or fan voting. He also stumped for righty pitcher Tyler Chatwood (8-4, 3.15 ERA).
"Certainly, five position players off the top of my head … I'd throw Tyler Chatwood in there," Weiss said. "It's too bad he spent the last couple weeks on the DL. I think our pitchers should get the benefit of the doubt. Our hitters get penalized for playing here."
Eight starting position players in each league will be determined by fans. Pitchers and reserves -- totaling 25 for the NL and 24 for the American League -- will be determined through a combination of "Player Ballot" choices and selections made by the two All-Star managers -- American League skipper Ned Yost of the defending World Series champion Royals and NL manager Terry Collins of the Mets.
