Rockies just miss on replay challenge

ARLINGTON -- The Rockies missed out on a run by a sliver when instant replay confirmed that Michael McKenry was tagged by Rangers catcher Robinson Chirinos before touching home plate to end the top of the seventh on Thursday night.

The Rockies, who have yet to be shut out this season, were down, 3-0, when Charlie Blackmon flied to right field with one out in the seventh with McKenry at third. The throw by Alex Rios reached the plate on the fly. McKenry slid to the outside and tried to reach the plate with the fingertips of his left hand, at roughly the same time he was tagged just above the elbow.

Manager Walt Weiss requested the review of plate umpire Mark Ripperger's call. The play was close but the call was confirmed.
