Rockies place RHP Roy Oswalt on 15-day DL with left hamstring strain

OF Charlie Blackmon Recalled from Triple-A

The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has placed right-handed pitcher Roy Oswalt on the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain. To take his place on the active roster, the Rockies have recalled outfielder Charlie Blackmon from Triple-A Colorado Springs. Blackmon (#19) will be available for tonight's game against San Diego at PETCO Park (8:10 p.m. MDT).

Oswalt, 35, joined Colorado on June 20th and has gone 0-4 with a 7.64 ERA (17.2 ip, 15 er) in four starts with the Rockies. The Rockies are his fourth Major League team, having previously played for Houston (2001-2010), Philadelphia (2010-11) and Texas (2012). In 360 career Major League games/339 starts, Oswalt is 163-100 with a 3.32 ERA (2230.2 ip, 822 er), 513 walks and 1,841 strikeouts. Oswalt's 163 career victories are the 9th-most among active Major League pitchers. The native of Kosciusko, MS is a three-time Major League All-Star (2004-06 with Houston) who has two career 20-win seasons in the Majors (2004-05).

Blackmon, 27, will be making his second appearance in the Major Leagues this season, as he was also a member of the Rockies active roster May 12th-29th. In 12 games during that stint, Blackmon hit .240 (6-for-25) with one home run, 2 RBI and 4 runs scored. The 6-foot-3 outfielder has spent the remainder of the season at Triple-A Colorado Springs, where he has hit .288 (74-for-257) with 15 doubles, 6 triples, 3 home runs, 40 RBI and 56 runs in 68 games. Over his last 10 games at Triple-A, Blackmon has hit .400 (14-for-35) with 2 doubles, 2 triples, 6 RBI and 6 runs. The Rockies former 2nd round draft pick in 2008 is a career .267 (63-for-236) Major League hitter with 9 doubles, 4 home runs, 19 RBI and 28 runs in 81 games.

The Rockies currently have a full 40-man roster.
