Rockies place RHP Tyler Chatwood on the 15-day DL

Club Recalls RHP Jordan Lyles to Start Tonight at Miami

MIAMI  - The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has placed right-handed pitcher Tyler Chatwood on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring (retroactive to March 29). In addition, the club has recalled right-handed pitcher Jordan Lyles from Triple-A. Lyles (#24) is scheduled to start tonight's game vs. Miami Marlins at Marlins Park (5:10 p.m. MDT).

Chatwood, 24, made his second Opening Day roster this season after spending the majority of last year on Colorado's active roster. He started 20 games for the Rockies last year, going 8-5 with a 3.15 ERA (111.1 ip, 39 er), 41 walks and 66 strikeouts. His eight wins were a season high and his 66 strikeouts were eight shy of matching his season high (74 in 2011). The Redlands, CA native made five appearances/four starts in Cactus League play and did not receive a decision (15.0 ip, 15 h, 9 r/7 er, 9 bb, 9 so).

Lyles, 23, will be making his first career start as a Colorado Rockie after being acquired on December 3, 2013 from the Houston Astros along with outfielder Brandon Barnes for outfielder Dexter Fowler. In Spring Training, Lyles went 0-1 with a 3.18 ERA (17.0 ip, 6 er) in five games/four starts, all of which were on the road. Last season, Lyles started 25 games for the Astros and went 7-9 with a 5.57 ERA (139.0 ip, 86 er), while also making two relief appearances (1 save, 2.2 ip, 2 er). In 72 career games, 65 starts, Jordan has gone 14-29 with a save and a 5.35 ERA (377.0 ip, 224 er), 431 hits, 117 walks and 259 strikeouts.

The Rockies currently have a full 40-man roster.
