Tom Murphy's hot streak continued Thursday as he hit for the cycle in Triple-A Albuquerque's 12-8 win over Memphis. He accomplished the feat in dramatic fashion, too, legging out a triple in his final at-bat in the bottom of the eighth inning to finish the game 4-for-5 at the plate.
Murphy, the Rockies' No. 9 prospect, has homered four times in his last three games and has multiple hits in seven straight contests for Albuquerque. During that torrid stretch, the 25-year-old backstop is hitting a robust .750 with five home runs, three doubles and two triples. On top of that, he's scored nine runs in that span while also tallying 11 RBIs.
But Murphy wasn't the only Isotopes hitter to have a big night at the plate.
Rockies No. 2 prospect David Dahl enjoyed his third-career two-homer game as part of a three-hit night at the plate. The No. 40 overall prospect has gone deep four times in seven games since being promoted to Albuquerque, and he's hitting .516 with 16 hits in that span. Meanwhile, with a pair of solo shots Thursday, the 22-year-old outfielder has now homered 17 times in 83 games on the season between the Double- and Triple-A levels.
Lastly, Jordan Patterson (Rockies' No. 19) connected on his fifth home run as he went back-to-back with Dahl in the first inning. The 24-year-old finished the game 3-for-5 at the plate to improve his season average to .322 through 71 games for the Isotopes.
