Rockies re-sign Carasiti, Cardullo to Minor League deals

December 14th, 2016

DENVER -- Right-handed relief pitcher and outfielder/first baseman Stephen Cardullo have re-signed with the Rockies under Minor League contracts with invitations to Major League Spring Training.
Both made Major League debuts last year but were non-tendered last month when the Rockies were setting their 40-man roster.
Carasiti, 25, a sixth-round pick out of St. John's in 2012, had 31 saves combined at Double-A Hartford and Triple-A Albuquerque before a promotion to the Majors. In 19 games with the Rockies, Carasiti was 1-0 with a 9.19 ERA in 15 2/3 innings. He compiled 5 2/3 scoreless innings over his final eight outings.

Cardullo, 29, hit .214 in 27 big league games after batting .308 with 17 homers and 72 RBIs with Albuquerque. Originally a D-backs 24th-round pick out of Florida State in 2010, Cardullo spent four seasons in independent leagues before joining the Rockies organization last spring.
