PHOENIX -- Solid starting pitching dominated the early part of the Saturday night's game between the D-backs and the Rockies, but Trevor Story once again proved to be the difference in Colorado's 5-2 victory in the second game of the series at Chase Field.
Story's two-run triple in the top of the ninth inning broke the 2-2 tie that propelled his club to the win. Story finished 2-for-5 with three RBIs.
"The kid keeps doing it,'' manager Walt Weiss said. "That was a big-time hit right there [in the top of the ninth]. For a right-handed hitter, that was a tough at-bat against that guy [Brad Ziegler]. Clutch. Game on the line. The kid just keeps showing up.''
The teams traded zeroes for the first two innings until Story drove home center fielder Charlie Blackmon with a run-scoring double off D-backs starter Zack Greinke for Colorado's first run of the game. Story scored on a single by left fielder Gerardo Parra to push the Rockies ahead, 2-0.

"I felt like I've thrown pretty good ever since the first game of the season," Greinke said. "And this one was pretty good. I made a hanging slider to Story. That was a really bad pitch. I gave up a run on that and he ended up scoring, too. Two runs because of a bad pitch."
The D-backs rallied in the sixth when third baseman Brandon Drury hit a two-run home run off reliever Carlos Estevez, his fourth home run of the season, to tie the game at 2.
D-backs second baseman Jean Segura led off the sixth inning with a single to set the stage for Drury's homer.
Rockies starter Chris Rusin, who made his first start of the season, was charged with one hit in five scoreless innings. He struck out six and walked three. Greinke gave up two runs on eight hits in seven innings in the no-decision. He struck out eight.
"He did a great job," D-backs manager Chip Hale said. "He kept us in the game. Obviously, they are swinging the bats really well here and he was able to hold them to two runs. I couldn't have asked for anything more."
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Story's three-RBI night: It wasn't another home run in his record-setting month, but the rookie shortstop came up big once again to cap a wild April. Story's RBI total climbed to 20, and his two runs scored raised his season total to 19. More >

Drury goes deep: The D-backs like Drury's offensive potential and it's easy to see why. The infielder had eight extra-base hits in his last 11 games entering Saturday's game and added another big one with his fourth homer.

Rusin's impressive start: Rusin's first start of 2016 was a good one, featuring five shutout innings and only one hit allowed. After two walks in a somewhat shaky second inning, he got Greinke to bounce into a fielder's choice to end the only serious threat that he faced.

Greinke gets going: The staff ace finished the month with one of his best starts of April and the club is hopeful the momentum will carry over into May. The right-hander showed good command of all of his pitches.

When Rusin struck out Segura, Drury and Goldschmidt in the bottom of the first inning, it marked the first time that he struck out the side in a big league career that has spanned parts of four seasons and 124 2/3 innings.

Rockies:Chad Bettis will try to continue his strong start to the season when he faces the D-backs for the second time in a 2:10 p.m. MT series finale at Chase Field. Bettis finished April with a 2-1 record and 3.77 ERA, with only 25 hits and 8 walks allowed in 31 innings pitched (1.065 WHIP). However, his lone loss came to the D-backs on April 5, when he allowed five runs and seven hits in 5 1/3 innings pitched.
D-backs:Shelby Miller will take the mound in the series finale against the Rockies at 1:10 p.m. MST on Sunday at Chase Field. Miller had some strides and appears to have overcome his recent struggles with his mechanics and command. That said, he allowed five runs in five innings against the Cardinals in his last outing and was not pleased with the results.
