The D-backs and Rockies, National League Wild Card leaders and West division foes, clash Sunday at Coors Field for the series finale as part of a full slate of games streaming live on MLB.TV.
The American League Wild Card race is as close as it gets, with at least eight clubs vying for two play-in spots, and the NL race is heating up as well. Colorado and Arizona are trying to keep pace ahead of Milwaukee, St. Louis and Miami, who are hot on their heels.
The D-backs and Rockies meet in Denver as the Rockies try to gain ground on the Wild Card leading D-backs. Arizona sends right-hander Zack Godley (6-7, 3.29 ERA) to the hill to face Colorado right-hander German Marquez (10-5, 4.18)
Godley, 27, earned a victory over the Rockies in his only start versus the club on June 22, allowing three earned runs in seven innings with eight strikeouts. He gave up just four hits and a walk as the D-backs rolled to a 10-3 win.
Marquez, 22, has faced Arizona four times this season, his first year in the big leagues. He's fared admirably, going 0-1 with a 3.42 ERA while striking out 20 batters in 23 2/3 frames.
First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET.
The two clubs will meet again in Arizona for a four-game series Sept. 11-14, so mark your calendars.

Royal rumble: KC@MIN, 2:10 p.m.
A pair of AL Central clubs attempting to earn Wild Card spots go head-to-head as the Royals and Twins wrap up their series at Target Field.
The Royals turn to right-hander Ian Kennedy (4-10, 5.47), who is searching for his first victory since July 26. He'll try to put a rough August (0-4, 9.57, six starts) in the rearview mirror with Kansas City pushing for postseason contention.
The Twins counter with righty Ervin Santana (14-7, 3.27) as he tries to keep rolling following a brilliant August in which he went 3-0 with a 2.95 ERA in six starts.

Action Jackson: WSH@MIL, 2:10 p.m.
With injuries mounting and the club in need of starting pitching, the Nationals signed Edwin Jackson to a Minor League contract on June 16. The decision has paid dividends already.

After struggling in a brief stint with the Orioles early in the season, Jackson has stepped up for Washington, going 5-3 with a 2.94 ERA in eight starts with the club. Jackson did struggle against the Crew on July 25 when he took the loss after giving three home runs, seven runs, three earned, in five innings. Jackson, however, is coming off a strong start against the Marlins, holding Miami to three runs over six innings, while fanning five. 

The Brewers counter with lefty Brent Suter (2-2, 3.79), who has yet to face the Nationals this season. Suter had three starts in August, going 0-1 with a 8.16 ERA. 
Cards take on MadBum: STL@SF, 4:05 p.m.
Madison Bumgarner's start was pushed back to Sunday as the left-hander has battled flu-like symptoms the past few days. Despite missing a large chunk of the season after suffering a left shoulder strain and bruised ribs in a dirt bike accident, the hefty lefty has dominated when on the bump.
The Giants' ace (3-6, 2.85), who has completed at least six innings in every start in 2017 except one, faces the Cardinals in a matinee contest at AT&T Park.
St. Louis is still in the race for the playoffs as it hands the ball to right-hander Luke Weaver, who is 3-1 with a 3.00 ERA as a starter this year.

Aces collide: BOS@NYY, 7:35 p.m.
Boston's Chris Sale (15-6, 2.77) and New York's Luis Severino (11-6, 3.14) toe the rubber at Yankee Stadium in the final game of the day.
Sale returned to dominance in his previous start after a blip in the radar vs. the Indians, beating the Blue Jays with seven scoreless innings while striking out 11 and walking none.
Severino is 2-1 with a 1.83 ERA in his last three starts while striking out 26 in 19 2/3 innings.
