Rockies to open 2016 on road vs. D-backs

Schedule for Interleague Play has Colorado facing AL East

The Rockies will open the 2016 season on the road against the D-backs on April 4 before returning to Coors Field for their home opener April 8 against the Padres.

The club released its tentative 162-game schedule on Tuesday, and it includes Interleague series against all five American League East teams for the first time since 2013, along with a series versus the Rangers for the third consecutive season.

Colorado's season-opening series in Arizona is April 4-6, and the first series at Coors Field will be April 8-10 against the Padres. The home opener is scheduled for 2:10 p.m. MT.

The Rockies will play their first nine and 25 of their first 35 games of the season against NL West foes. Overall, they'll play the standard 19 games against each of the four other NL West teams, with 10 home games against the D-backs and nine each against the Dodgers, Padres and Giants.

They'll host the Yankees June 14-15, the Blue Jays June 27-29, the Rays July 18-20 and the Rangers Aug. 8-9. They'll travel to Boston for games May 24-26, to Yankee Stadium for games June 21-22, to Baltimore for games July 25-27 and to Texas for games Aug. 10-11.

The annual fireworks shows are scheduled for July 8 and July 9 after games against the Phillies, as well as Sept. 30, after the club's game against the Brewers.
