Rodriguez optioned to make room for Cingrani

CHICAGO -- With the recall of left-hander Tony Cingrani from Triple-A Louisville in order to start Tuesday's game, the Reds optioned infielder Henry Rodriguez to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Cingrani is making his first appearance in the big leagues since May 17. Rodriguez has appeared in just two games for the Reds this season, going 0-for-2 with a strikeout in two plate appearances.

"When [Rodriguez] got called up, it was a temporary move in the first place," Reds manager Dusty Baker said. "He'll be back, because he's getting there in Triple-A and he can hit. Like I told him, it's gonna work and he has a good attitude."

The 23-year-old infielder has appeared in 14 Major League games over the last two seasons. In 57 games with Louisville this year, Rodriguez has hit .279 with 11 doubles, three home runs and 26 RBIs.
